For Laura Escobar Agon, wellness is deeply personal. It is rooted in family, resilience, movement, and the belief that taking care of yourself is one of the most powerful ways to care for the people you love.
Meet Laura
As a mom, runner, and advocate for children and families, Laura understands what it means to balance work, parenting, wellness, and personal goals. She works at the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, where she supports educational and literacy programs for children and families across the state. Outside of work, you can often find her training for her next race, making time for movement, and encouraging other women to remember that their health matters too.
Laura has been running for nine years, but her wellness journey began even earlier. In college, she started speed walking and participating in track and field. After experiencing a spinal injury that forced her to stop moving the way she loved for nearly two years, followed by becoming a mom, Laura slowly rebuilt her consistency and eventually fell in love with long-distance running.
What Wellness Means to Her
Over time, her definition of wellness has expanded beyond running. Today, it includes nutrition, recovery, movement, mental health, and a deeper commitment to overall well-being. After losing her father to complications related to diabetes, Laura’s relationship with health became even more meaningful.
“Wellness is now both a way for me to heal and a commitment to giving myself the best chance to live a long, healthy life with my family,” she shared.
That mindset is exactly what makes Laura such a meaningful part of the WellNXT community.
For Laura, wellness is not about perfection or performance. It is about feeling strong, balanced, energized, and present. It is about making space for herself in the middle of the everyday chaos of work and family life. It is about showing other women, especially moms, that self-care is not selfish. It is necessary.
“What motivates me to be part of this community is that the WellNXT movement is exactly what I try to live every day,” Laura said. “For me, wellness isn’t just about fitness or training for races. It’s about taking care of myself so I can live a healthy, full life and be there for the people I love.”
Why WellNXT
As a WellNXT Ambassador, Laura is excited to connect with women who genuinely want to encourage and support one another. She hopes to share her journey, learn from others, and help make wellness feel real, attainable, and rooted in community.
Most of all, Laura hopes to inspire other women to prioritize their well-being and build habits that can ripple into future generations.
“Being an ambassador is about more than a title,” Laura said. “It’s about encouraging others while continuing to grow myself. It inspires me to keep showing up, share my journey, and be proud of who I am.”
